The Transfer Center at North Kansas City Hospital improves service to the referring physician and the admitting physician. It takes just one call to a highly-qualified registered nurse to transfer a patient to North Kansas City Hospital.

North Kansas City Hospital maintains a standard of placing patients within four hours of the initial call, provided the sending facility and/or transport team has no delays. Our professional staff is always dedicated to thorough follow up.

How does admission work? 

  1. Physician calls the North Kansas City Hospital Transfer Center when transitioning a patient for admission. 
  2. The transfer center nurse answers the call or returns phone pages promptly. 
  3. The transfer center collects the following relevant healthcare information (RHI): 
    1. Patient's name, date of birth and social security number 
    2. Medical history 
    3. Priority of transfer
    4. Type of bed required 
    5. Admitting diagnosis 
    6. Location of the patient 
    7. Transportation method 
  4. The transfer center reviews the patient's insurance coverage and alerts the receiving physician of potential coverage issues. 
  5. The transfer center maintains statistics in our database.
  6. The hospital has a bed ready when the patient arrives.
